This week we joined the boys at Burger and Lobster Cardiff for a liquid lunch!
The Cardiff branch of Burger and Lobster opened in December and the team have set tongues wagging in Cardiff with their unique menu of just three things; burger, lobster or lobster roll. Aside from the tasty food, the Cardiff venue has a feature point bar in the middle, where you can join them for some of the best cocktails in the city.
The cocktail menu has a great choice of drinks that have been carefully selected to compliment the food on offer, but Jamie tells us not to be restricted by it as the bartenders are more than happy to make something suited to your own tastes.
Jamie walked us though some of his ideas for the new spring/summer menu that will be launched in a couple of weeks time. The cocktails incorporated fresh flavours of gin and cucumber, floral liqueurs and citrus fruits.
Jamie and Nick introduced us to some of their bespoke dessert cocktails, the creamy Naughty Nick and the berry-licous Pillow Talk. They’ve even given us the recipes so that you can make them at home!
Naughty Nick
20ml Kaluha, 20ml Baileys, 10ml Disarano, 10ml Cacao White, 25ml Milk, 25ml Cream, Chocolate for dusting
Add all the ingredients into a boston with ice and shake well. Strain into a cupe glass and dust with chocolate.
This is the perfect adult desert for those who love things sweet and creamy!
Pillow Talk
35ml Vodka, 15ml Crème de Mure, 25ml Lime Juice, 20ml vanilla syrup, 3 fresh blackberries, plus two more for garnish.
Muddle the blackberries in boston with vodka, add the other ingredients and shake well. Double strain and serve in a cupe glass. Add the extra blackberries on the side of the glass.
This was smooth and tart, a great boozy treat!
Many Thanks to the staff at Burger and Lobster for our cocktail masterclass.
Burger and Lobster Cardiff is situated in The Hayes, above Miller and Carter, open 7 days a week.
